Move Over Menux - Here Comes Cdx.xbe
« on: February 02, 2004, 08:45:00 AM »

Ok I have been playing around with this alot At first I was getting error line 1 id too long so I changed the names in the main menu to numbers here is what the inx looks like now.

[Config]
AppTitle="Mr.Carmon2"
FontFileName="d;\cdxmedia\arialuni.ttf"
AmbientDirectory="d:\cdxmedia\ambient"

[Layout]
MenuFontHeight="18"
MenuTextMargin="15"

[MainMenu]

2
3
4

[1]
Action="Demo"
DisplayName="RobinHood"
Preview="Images\RobinHood.png"
FileName="RobinHood\default.xbe"
FullScreenVolume="100"

[2]
Action="Demo"
DisplayName="Futurama"
Preview="Images\Futurama.png"
FileName="Futurama\default.xbe"
FullScreenVolume="100"

[3]
Action="Demo"
DisplayName="HauntedMansion"
Preview="Images\HauntedMansion.png"
FileName="HauntedMansion\default.xbe"
FullScreenVolume="100"

[4]
Action="Demo"
DisplayName="Curse"
Preview="Images\Curse.png"
FileName="Curse\default.xbe"

I also replaced the xbe with one from the tetris world clone wars mech assault demo that came with the holiday package.
When I FTP it to my xbox and try to run it I still get Error id in line 1 too long.
What the hell is line 1? How do I get this damn thing to work?!

Is there any further information on using the Action (SavedGame) in this menu or how the saved game should be structured on the CD?  Is there someone that could perhaps post something off of a OXM magazine disc that has a save on it?

Would be cool to have some saves that you could boot off a disc and load or bring to a friends house etc.

Tia for any help here

it's my understanding that if you put savegames on a disc it will only transfer them to the hdd of the xbox you have the disc in, you can't boot them straight from the disc etc. a prime example of this is the infamous Splinter Cell/Ghost Recon Island Thunder (downloadable content) Expansion Pack. it uses cdx to load the extra maps onto the hdd, if you want me to post some of the inx just lemme know.

This seems a little unclear, I do have a copy of the splintercell/ghost recon island thunder disc and you can install the (downloaded content) onto the HD and it does load the levels in the game, when loaded off the HD.  I'm somehow wondering if it's possible to boot CDX and get it load different saves, I duno if that makes sense.

I think loading a saved game is different then downloaded content though, have to look further into this, duno if this is even worth it, the save game manager for PC seems to work pretty good. Just curious to see what this app can do.

Finally I got the cdxmenu to work, damm it´s sweet and fast. I´ve tried craxtion but it took to long time to load.

How long did it take to load?  I use Menu X w/ Craxtion 3.1 and my menu appears within a couple seconds, and a game is loaded within a few seconds more.  I'm not sure I'd imply that is slow.

Yeah, so I found another problem *I* have with burning these dvds.  I've got the infamous Lite-on LDW411S.  I found another forum for it and downloaded the firmware update and the book type changer, and got a "working" disc in 1 try. Only problem with the disk was that none of the games worked...

Still trying to burn my damn cel damage, dave mirra 2, ssx tricky dvd.

Oh well; guess I'll just have to make use of the 80 gig I put in there...

So, you get errors if you put spaces in the names of the games, right?  Has anyone tried using the at-255 null character?  It's a character, without a character in it... different than a space.

Edited to add that the '255' needs to be entered with the number keypad.

Bump.  Anyone?  This thread is 44-pages long and no one can tell me if ALT-255 will allow a "space" in title?
