I went with the phillips DVD+R/RW.

I chose + over -  because I felt that - was getting out of date (no new support). + Seems to be getting all the attention, and while the media  is a bit more expensive, its better quality.

that is what I am thinking regarfing + vs. - . Referring to one of the above replies, the phillips is reasonably priced but it does not have +R capability, is this an important feature or something most people could do without?

I initially purchased a DVD+RW/+R.

After seeing the price of blanks, I also purchased a DVD-R.

You can't beat those $0.89/ea DVD-R blanks AFAIK.

Offsets the cost of the DVD-R burner in two stacks of blanks.
