No Audio Thru Rcas

I have a 1.6 Xbox with an Xecuter 2.6ce chip. Strange problem is I have no audio when using the standard AV cables, but if I change over to my HD AV cables and use the optical output I get perfect sound.
This happens with or without chip on. Is there a resister or some point on the motherboard I should look into?
It's not a big deal, just curious to what could cause this for future reference.
