I am having trouble with a headset.  I am trying to splice together a MS headset to another brand cartridge in the wiring.  I noticed that there are two sets of wires in both brands.  One set has a red and blue (or red and gold) pair of wires which I think are for the earpiece.  The other set is a thick copper wire along with a thinner, insulated in red (or white) copper wire which I think are for the mic.  I carefully spliced everything and connected the wires, separating them with electrical tape and taping it up.  But it doesn't work.  I need detailed instructions on how to make it work if you can help, or if you can refer me somewhere I would appreciate it.
