Hi everyone. I'm a total noob to the Xbox scene. I 'm very active in the PS2/PSP scene, though. But anyways, I managed to "hotswap" my Xbox using the following guide:

Everything is working fine and the UnleashX version I have installed is the "V.0.38.05.15A".
I tried updating via the "Live Update" feature but that didn't worked as I got an error. I found the latest version of UnleashX and I even burned it to a DVD and when I tried to copy the Default.xbe and you guys say and get an error also.

Can anyone be so kind on helping me to solve this problem?

FTP the default.xbe over to replace your current unleashX.xbe.

note, im not sure on a softmod what exact name the .xbe takes for unleashx... it may be evoxdash.xbe or something.

"ftp xbox" should be a sufficient search

I finally made an FTP connection. Now I would like to know what EXACTLY I need to do?

In your C Drive, there should be a file with a name along the lines of evoxdash.xbe.
You need to overwrite that file through FTP, and then reboot your xbox.

Tell you what, give us a list of all the files in your C Drive and we'll tell you exactly which one you need.

The file you need to replace isn't there.  But I think I know where it might be.
Give us a list of the files in E:\dashboards

There is no "dashboards" folder but a "dash" folder. Here it is:

I'm afraid I don't know which one to replace.
I have absolutely no experience with hotswapping and softmodding, so I don't know how they work.
You'll have to wait for someone else to come along, or try the softmodding forum.

That's Ok, don't worry. But I think I figured it out. I replaced default.xbe in the "dash" folder with the one I downloaded and the version number changed to V0.39.0528a. So I guess it worked?

But it would still be worth finding out what that other folder, ndts, is for.

My unleash x hard modded xbox hasnt been updated since 2004. Anything good if I update? I have an FTP, just need a step by step on how to do so, and if itd be worth doing so?

Also, will this update the emus on it? If not, do you update emus? And if so, how?

Also wondering if there is a saturn emu for the xbox?
