I change them with WinXIP for various tweaks and for skin related issues but when I ftp them over the dashboard doesn't recognize them, like I just transferred the default files. Can someone help?

perhaps u should try 2 refresh ur cache

Delete everything in this directory e:\udata\0ffeeff0\xips\ for your new xips to be loaded.
