I am having a similar problem. When I try to launch a backup (from disc) The game will begin to boot, and I have disc activity, but then it reverts back to Avalaunch...

Hey bakaris you need to do a couple of things. Beckerton this might also work for you not
sure what version you have for bios and dashboard.

1. You have a X3 w/X3 Config Live build 1943 - You need to update you Bios
to x3 Config Live build 3294 this is the last bios file they released for X3 chip
you can get the file from xbins

2. You are running a old version Avalaunch v0.49b3
You need to update to v0.49.3.142. To do this is very simple
you can go to xbins or you can update it online
run avalaunch goto settings then move all the way down to the bottom
and run update dashboard and you can download version 0.49.3.142

Now i'm not sure on how to fix your z drive.

If what i've told you above does not work then try this.
I had a problem like this where i put in my backup to boot
but then it would not and just boot to the avalaunch dashboard.

Turn off your xbox, turn it back on but this time hold down
the white button on the controller you will then boot into
Xecuter Config Live. Please Note this only works if you have a
x3 chip. Click on X3 Config Live setting, move down to the bottom then click on
Reset X3 Configuration to Defaults.
Then of course you will have to setup everything again. But after doing this
i was able to boot my backup again.
