thats the weird thing though, im still using the 1.09 firmware that came on the drive and i never had any troubles at all

The version 1.50 firmware is supposed to help out with increased writing speed on certain media.  I haven't tried it out yet as I would like to get more feedback on it before I update.  I would definitely say that the Pioneer 109 is worth the upgrade, not unless you really feel the need to hold out for the 110.

the new firmware update for 109 is offically out on pioneers website.
you can get the 1.50 firmware here

Anyone tested out the 4x TY media and see if it can be burned at 8x with the firmware update?
