Nexgen Development
« on: February 13, 2005, 11:34:00 AM »

First let me say nexgen looks like it could be any incredible dashoard, far superior to all others.  However its just so damn confusing and buggy.  It can be better.  I wanted to look into all this to see what I could possibly do to help.  I sure there others out there who feel the same.  I'm quite aware it is a daunting task. But I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to xbox development so I have a few questions.

1)  Is nexgen developed with any specific development kit. eg. OpenXDK
2)  What language is the dashboard programmed with?
3)  Any websites or books, or anything with info on where to start? Not beginning programming, but specifically xbox dashboard development.
4)  Any chance the new nexgen source will be released soon?

Nexgen is still in Beta, of course it's going to be buggy ;)

The source code will not be released as of yet because one of the dev's wants his code private.

I don't know any good books so sorry on that though I think Nexgen is coded in c++ & lua (lua for scenes, skinning etc).

Nexgen is compiled on the m$ XDK as openXDK isn't advanced enough yet. PM HoRnEyDvL if you want to help us, also tell us the bugs you have discovered.

Also are you using the latest Nexgen V2.0.0 NYE release? If not try it out plz.
