DVD requires all resources atm so we have to set it to kill the entire dashboard, so this is intentionally. As far as 1080i it was working till last night, then it suddenly looked like shit.  Gonna look into 480p and 1080i tomorrow I belive.

It probably has a lot of issues, and in many ways dvdx2 will probably be better at some points.  But we'll keep working on it, it's interesting stuff.

btw, forgot to add that filemanager should have rar3 support too now.

Since my XBox DVD drive is crapped out (funny, I've used it 3 times in the past year and it's a Philips too - damn you MSFT) I haven't been able to mess with the DVD player yet.  Hopefully it handles 1080i better than the XBMC one although I can't say I'm a huge fan of upscaling one way or another.

Anyway, great release.  I love the Kai integration as my laptop is being replaced by IBM and desktop is on the 3rd floor so this makes it much less of a pain in the butt.

Someone had brought up the point of making the download locations configurable rather than just Apps on E.

Kudos to you guys.  Since the day I moved over to Ava, I've been nothing but pleased.  You guys should be proud to have such a feature rich dash that is so easy to maintain and use.  I saw the update on the mainpage, went downstairs, booted the Xbox, used Ava to update itself, rebooted and voila.  So nice.

Great new additions!!
One complaint. Is it just me or did the update screw up the skins? I mean all of them, its like it cut off half an inch to the right of the rss bar. If its just me I need to find a way to fix it. Oh and I did auto update in case that has anything to to with.

People please. Will my dashboard setting in the XML file be lost if i use the update future  in Avalaunch? blink.gif

I have made so many setting for every program and emulator with new names and so on.  unsure.gif

Im so looking forward for the 0.50 relese! This is the best dash a have tested and i bow to you for your time and effort on developing this peace of "art".

If you dont overwrite your current XML then NO it you will not lose your settings.  But I dont think thats the question that needs to be asked.

The question is,  do we HAVE to use the XML that comes with the new version?  Or can we stick with out current customized XML?

If we can keep the current all good.

If not,  well then you will have to reconfigured the XML again.

Lets see what Ava says.  Excited to use this version.  Been dying for a update thats more stable.  Love this dash, best out there and only gonna get better.  Thanks guys.  beerchug.gif

EDIT:  I just did an auto update vs a fresh install which I was going to do.  It DID NOT overwrite my XML.  Like I assumed it would not.  You'll be ok unless you mess it up yourself.

When I click on update dashboard it says the latest version is 0.49.1.something. So why doesn't it say 0.49.2 ?

dvd keeps sayin interlaced....at like 1280x768 or so...the black text is hard o read from 12ft away on a gray background. but i like that it keeps the proper widescreen on my 16:9. just wish it had more settings to full with; color scheme,

i have an hdtv that can take 480i,480p.720p,1080i.....but the player keeps saying its interlaced.   otherwise THUMBSUP

try to update to the unstable version ( enable in boot options ). Should be a bit improved in those ways. We'll add more settings to it later.

ydgmms:

You do realize that 1920x1080 is 1080i and the 'i' stands for 'interlaced' right?  It would make sense that it would say interlaced for 1080i.  If you are using 720p where the 'p' is progressive, then it would be correct in calling the res progressive.  Maybe I'm misreading something but I think it's working just fine from what I gathered from your post.

I've tried the DVD player and it seems to work just great, So no complaints.

Did you find any controlls with the DVD player like FF, RWD, Subs, how to tell the chapter and how much time is left?

Yeah. I'm aware.

I was under the impression 1080i was disabled (because the release info says...its disabled).  + Even when I turn off 720p and 1080i. It should go to 480p, but it was also staying in interlaced.  But it has to do with putting the dash in 720p in order to get the DVD player to get to 720p. In other words, the DVD player res is locked to the dash res.

i just tried the update, it seemed to work fine but then on reboot it booted the MS dashboard, and thus the dvd that was in the drive, i ejected the DVD and since then it wont read any discs at all (originals,  burns, boot discs) its a samsung and ive never had problems until now, but all i can get now is the ms dash which wont boot anything, im going to get a mates dvd rom today, seems like 2 seperate events but its very strange that the ava update made it boot to ms dash anyway

Sounds like your modchip is disabled.. but an update of Ava shouldn't be able to do that..
