Weird Network Problem
« on: August 07, 2004, 07:44:00 PM »

so, lets say i want to take a file off my xbox
10 meg/sec, no problem, uses the full 100megabit connection

when i want to put a file ON my xbox, it goes at like 100k/sec, not even 10megabit, even tho, on the same ftp conneciton, i can get a full 10meg/sec coming off the hd

why can't i upload to my xbox?

what ftp program are you using?  I know switches are better than a hub/router for data transmissions.  and make sure you're not using pasv or passive mode for uploads/downloads in your ftp program, or using a NAT/proxy option to connect.  you could try also using Qwix from www.teamavalaunch.com to do the file swapping/ iso extracts.  I love that program, it works rather well for me.

if you have a second NIC then just set it static and use a crosswire cable. This way there is less of a bottleneck as if you were going through a switch/hub/router...whatever. My transfers barely go under 8000kb/s this way,and it's never had a problem yet.

Yeah, I run mine through my internet connection share and it works great!  I don't see anything under 9500k/bs.
