as an albeit more basic developer myself , it f*cking  bugs me when people ask questions like these.

just because "xlink has been implemented" doesn't mean the rest of avaluaunch is ready to be released, if you have been following the threads you would have known that avalaunch is essentially being rewritten from the ground up

I'm sure the team are working their damndest to release the new version but at the end of the day  they're doing this project basically for free (and so real life issues also come into play) and turn out a fantastic dash to boot, and after all the people slating them for apparently not fully testing their product during the whole eeprrom corrupting fiasco, its no surprise they're keeping it "in house" till they're sure that its basically for want of a better phrase "idiot proof"

let them get on with it, why is it of such importance that a new version is out? If you know what you're doing 0.48.64 does the job fine, and Kai VII works without the need of a kai enabled dash (as i understand it).

Giving an example of XBMC (as its open source) i could say compile the 01-04 04 build call it the 22-05-04 build and do something like  seed it on bit torrent and about 90% of the people would be none the wise (the build date would have gone up so you'd assume that its "better")- this is an example- i wouldn't advocate something like this . do you actually want them to do something like that? If i were a dev and i got a multiude of whining "when's the next avalkunch gonna come out" questions i'd be tempted to do this.

The main issue is with people who don't have a PC near their TV (my server running Kai will be located on a totally different floor).  This is why Bo-Xlink was so popular with XLink as it allowed joining and searching games from the Xbox.  This functionality is now going to be integrated into dashboards (XBMP and Avalaunch).  So basically the drive is to get a new version of our favorite dash that supports Kai.

This is the issue that is driving the curiosity anyway.  Personally, I'm sure it will be out soon enough and I have more than enough going on in my life to keep me busy.

Yep, he's got it... and lets not forget the fact that the newer xbox remote does not work with Avalaunch and is supposed to be fixed in the new release.

dude, don't flame me... you read this post out of curiosity wondering if maybe someone actually provided me with a release date. Don't act like you didn't. And as far as a "more basic developer", following a template once on a hacked ver of Visual Studio .net that you downloaded from your favorite file sharing utility does not constitute a "developer". So please do not take me for an idiot or a twelve your old kid. I am a long experienced IT specialist. I am not a developer or programmer, although I have been known to throw some code together at work and home, I am still no developer.

sorry was very pissed when i wrote that  rolleyes.gif having read it in the cold light day it was a bit ott.unsure.gif

as for what i do no its not like that, its financial modelling software- like i said not high end stuff like this is-

but my sentiments about when it comes out are that it should come out when its good and ready- Kai implementation i can live without for the moment although i see ChrisF's point about pc and xbox in different rooms- what with the hoo ha of caused over the previous releases i would prefer they iron out any bugs before making a release some people don't seem to get the idea of alpha software, and the whole responsibility issue- there were just so many "avalaunch f*cked up my xbox" posts here it was untrue

The new Avalaunch will be out on [rumor].  This is a good date so lets all be patient and give them our support.... beerchug.gif

.

*- The date above is my uneducated guess only and does not represent any views or statements by the Avalaunch Team

Edit by Devenic:  This is NOT true.  We will release when we're ready.

It'll be out when it's ready. Personally I've had a little economic setback, so I've developed less and worked more.

An experienced IT specialist asking when a piece of software that will support another piece of software will be released - when the supported software isn't even released yet (or wasn't when the thread strated)

Interesting
