I've always lived by the motto if you like the game buy it

i think a lot of people should adhere to that. i think that you really need a way to be able to protect your investment (backup the games that you do own). however, that spurs on piracy. i think its something that we will have to deal with for a long time to come.

I'd have to say XBMC + MAME + FBAXXX.

One more thing, I've always lived by the motto if you like the game buy it, I think running backups of games is at best a poor excuse to allow rampant piracy of game software.

Yeah, but sometimes games for hire are next to impossible to find in stores. Case in point, Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast for the XBOX. Just found a retail copy of that last week. Sure, I coould have bought the widely available PS2 version, but why?  laugh.gif

I liked having a personal dash but the main thing was backing up disks on the HDD I never liked having to go and change disks or cartrages so mods was a nice thing more like a computer where you dont have to swap all the time. One problem is the piracy that follows it.

XBMC is on virtually 24/7, and stands for at least 95% of my xbox usage(that says a lot about XBMC because there are SO many other good things one can do with the xbox).

Considering they don't sell new xboxes here anymore, I'd never sell my xbox for even ~$700(that's where I'd search for old ones). I love watching films and nothing has a better interface and usability than XBMC. The community supports you, and the developers support you, it's just fantastic! But, I'm afraid something has to happen if it won't be able to run 264-videos. If XBMC move to any other system that makes it even better, I'll buy that system for the sole purpose of XBMC. Hands down, I LOVE YOU GUYS!

Homebrew only really.  Like many others, making something do what its not supposed to is great fun.

Doing cool work within the development of homebrew is my favourite hobby.

Homebrew for me  biggrin.gif . XBMC is used daily on several xbox1's around the house to stream media from my pc.

Case mods and other/electrical are a close second because I love taking stuff apart and making it look/work the way I want it to.

Backups running from a hd is always a very convenient/cool feature so that comes in 3rd for me. Not too fussed about the current firmware hacks for the 360 though.

I was all about the homebrew when I modded my original xbox.  But now that my 360 does all that right out of the box, I really have no need for mods.  I'd rather just play games wink.gif

of course homebrew owns. without XBMC I would've sold my XBOX ages ago.

2- Modding, with no modding no XBMC.

3- GS backup + Emu.

Homebrew definitely, cause it can spark up wild things like XBMC that are simply awesome.

But Linux is also interesting, it basically turns your console into another computer if you need it, and Linux is a very powerful operating system if used correctly.
