What Do You Primarily Use To Connect To The Internet?

Were so screwed here in the US, if your not hacking your ISP for a better speed, or you dont have a kick ass subscriber, then your stuck with sub-standard speeds while in other countries like the minimum speed is like 50megs/S.....BS if you ask me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

I used to live in Fort Wayne, Indiana and we had fiber optic to the house which was 15Mbps/2Mbps.  Then I moved to Northern Kentucky and was disappointed in the speed of the cable until a couple of weeks ago when they changed the speeds to 10Mbps/1Mbps for free!  It may not be as fast as my fiber was but it's still pretty cool.  BTW, my fiber provider was Verizon and now that I'm in Kentucky my cable provider is Insight Broadband.

How are some people here getting 100Mbps up and down for so little, wish it would happen in the uk, still 10Mb cable is good for now, way better than adsl which doesn't live upto the speeds it advertises.

i have a fiber line, i know its 15mb down, and i forget what the up is, i think its 5 or 6mb, and its 30 dollars a month, half the price of cable in my area and twice the speed. i love it.

HOLY CRAP BATMAN! blink.gif

Where do you live to get fiber optic for such a good price?  Our rip-off local monopoly COX charges us $40 a month for a 5mb line...

Cable:  12mbps down and 1mbps up.
And I *actually* get 12mbps down.

This, combined with unlimited usenet makes me happy.

The fiber optics is the best connection in my area and is the fastest (and the cheapest). Comcast offers 10mb down by .385mb up for $50 a month. Fiber has two options: 5mb down 2up for $35 or 15mb down 2mb up for $45. Beats cable hands down

You can get over 20Mbit adsl in the uk, cable also do over 20mbit, with sky you can get 16mbit/1mbit for £10pm!! under 20 dollers for you yanks!! and the reason why the uk has so slow speeds is because in many places they wont dig up the roads!!! so they cant put in fiber, there are also many other reasons. Sudds

oh and now adays you dont have to be that near to the exchange i forget exactly how far though. I am a good few miles from mine and im getting 16mbit/1mbit

1024kbps ADSL here in the UK...

Thats the maxmium our line will allow (too far from exchange), we don't have cable at all, fiber is just a dream and satellite is absurdley expensive (but goddamn quick!).

10Mb down/1mb up Cable at home
100Mb both ways on a fiber connection at my office (I'm the sys admin for a small ISP). I can't remember what we pay for the fiber connection but we're in the same building as our provider so we're getting a good deal. Too bad that connection is being hogged by all our customers  biggrin.gif
