actually MS owns the intelectual property rights to the xbox 360 hardware which they didnt own the original xbox rights so they couldn't stick original xbox hardware in the 360 to make its bc with all the xbox 1 games. but when the xbox 720 comes out it'll be able to play any 360 game quite easily

I dunno. The intelectual property issue is not that relevant as the processor change is, which can be taken care of with a good JIT compiler. Games were developed using the XDK, which is Direct X based, and there is no issue to run Direct X games on PC with either ATI or nVidia cards, for instance. So a change of video processors does not impact that much. As for the north/south bridge designed by nVidia, this may pose problems, however, the emulator profiles should take care of that. From my point of view, the 360 is selling well without BC, so MS will simply let go of it sooner or later, and then I will have to throw away my XBox games along with my XBox once it dies.

What worries me is not that MS will or will not be able to stick an 360 inside a future "Xbox 720", but that they simply won't do it because the 360 showed them that players don't care that much for BC: the 360 is going to sell in two years more the original box has sold on its entire life cycle, all without a decent BC feature. It's quite easy to see the picture. If this reduces production costs, and increases revenues, and average players don't care, they got the green light to do so.

I play it only for halo 2. Although halo 2 is played more on my 360 than any other game, I do like alot of 360 games. The thing is I just love halo 2. Most weekends I just spend playing halo 2 all weekend. Then if I run into some modders or just plain lose really bad then I switch to another game for a couple hours and go back to halo 2. But with Saint's Row coming out tommorow at midnight, I am going to be spending alot of time playing that with no halo 2 at all. Then gears of war will probably put halo 2 in the closet until halo 3 comes out.

I'm not happy that they are not updating backwards compat with certain games because newer ones are coming out i.e. NCAA football 2006 won't work to make you buy the new 07.

Glad to:
(1) see a new poll finally!
(2) know that I am not alone - the only disc that has been in my 360 over the past several months is HALO 2, although Gears of War may be worth looking at...

(And yes, I know how to use the quote feature, but it made this post really long with all of the wasted space from multiple quotes)
