Installing Linux Questions

I only use my PS3 for its Bluray capabilities but once in a while a game comes a long I would love to play.  As I am a 360 gamer, I want to use the driver that allows me to use a 360 controller on my PS3, but alas I need Linux installed.  So, a couple questions:

1.  What's the simplest way to do this task?
2.  Will my PS3 dual boot from Linux/PS3 OS?
3.  Will installing Linux affect my PS3 as the Bluray player It's currently known as?
