Harddrive Partition Resizing
« on: July 02, 2007, 08:54:00 AM »

Is there a tool available to resize the PS3 partition on the hard drive? I want to shrink the partition on my mates harddrive so I can install Ubuntu on it, but he doesn't want to lose his saves and downloads.

If not then I'll make the tool myself, any documentation/links with information on the hard drive layout would be very useful!

I've not seen anything, you can backup to an external HD and then resize?

There is a built in tool in the PS3 system menu for HDD partitioning. But its limited to doing ether 10 GB for Other OS or 10GB for PS3.

Most Linux distros do not take up that much space any ways, so i suggest doing 10 GB for Other OS if you still want to use your PS3 for PS3 gaming.

Tool?
Let me tell you, the best tool is Partition Manager.
This is the best choice to finish your problem--resize partition, I promise.
It really works well and free for use, it has gained the usesÂ’ affirmation.
