I've made a dump of my friends PS3 harddrive, hoping to clone it to his replacement, after writing it though the new PS3 wanted to format it, so I assume the harddrive is locked to the PS3 it was formatted on?

So failing that I'm going to look into the format of the dump, try and figure out the file structure and whether or not the game saves are also signed per console (I doubt that since you can copy them to other media, however I guess it's possible that they get resigned with a "roaming" signature when you copy them, unlikely though).

Has the research already been done? I've been looking everywhere I can think of, but I'm not really into the Playstation scene.
