Ps3 Hardware Fault
« on: December 14, 2006, 05:18:00 PM »

Hey Guys,

I switched my PS3 on today and it won't recognise the BD's disks anymore.

It has also stopped playing demo's from the HDD, I get the following message when trying to play a demo, "an error occurred during the start operation. (80010510). It does however play movies fron the HDD.

I have restored the default settings and also restored the ps3 system with a format, but still no luck.

Please can anybody advise.

Thanks,

Hey Guys,

Yep just called Sony and they were about to do the exchange when they asked me to check the waranty sticker. It doesn't have one !

Bought it from eBay and the guy denies all knowlege of opening it up.

I'm screwed.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Whoa.  You are royally screwed.  Sorry man. sad.gif

Be sure and leave very negative feedback for that seller, as he obviously did something to the PS3..

At least the blu-ray drive supposedly works in a PC...maybe you could see if it recognizes BD discs when plugged into a PC?

Wow, thanks for the info, didn't know that.

I thought the BD drives had different connections / interfaces.

Not sure what to tell ya on that. I might be ording a broken ps3 soon; just wish I had a resource of information about PS3 problems that was anywhere NEAR what we have for the 360 on here. Seriously, I can't believe the lack of activity for non-xbox lately (I know it's "xbox-scene", but still; we're a bunch of hackers and newbies, so I don't see "fanboy" as a factor).

Anywayz, if I do order it, I'll be sure to document the details of it's ailments and solution (provided it's not fubar).
