Rsx Hack Killed By Firmware 2.10
« on: December 18, 2007, 03:33:00 PM »

Strangely, Sony has just made the move that will raise again hacking pressure against PS3, whereas it fell close to zero with the ability to use GPU for homebrewing.

Firwmare 2.10 now prevents many Linux distros to boot (especially the ones tuned to gain 2D accelerated graphics through RSX usage).

Silly move, I want to say. Now people will install infectus inside their PS3, analyze firmwares, etc... PS3 will fall down like others, it's sure now.

EDIT: Some other distros were reported no longer booting with fw 2.10 (not only those tuned for RSX). We thought it might be all Geoff's kernels, but it may be just lastest version of kboot. Anyway, it's a mess!
