BenQ's BW1000 Blu-ray Disc recorder for PCs hitting Japan

I will never understand how someone could need one of these when the price is so high, the price of pc rom drives always plummets rapidly. I will get one when it is a more reasonable price probably in a year or so.

Here in Canada, at the local Future Shop and Best Buy we have three different Blu-Ray recorders to choose
from, with the Sony being the most only $899 (Canadian) and bottom price being the LG for only $749 (Canadian), but the BD-Ray single-sided 25gb discs are $19.99 in huge amount of ONE each!

I wanna see the HD DVD recorders. I wonder if they are available yet?

Only one out there here it is:

http://www.engadget....-with-1tb-disk/

But that is the top-of-the-line, only $3,495 U.S.
(Too bad at that price it does not include the "Demo-Girl" shown at the bottom of the above page)

And here we have the blanks:

Only $24.99 for the Memorex, and $16.99 for the Verbatim (the 15GB sizes).
