More on Bigger PS3 Hard Drive

This translates to: we will remove the EE/GS and put an 80GB drive in instead.

Putting a bigger hard drive (from the factory) in the PS3 is totally pointless.

Yeah and if your gonna upgrade the hard drive because 60gb isn't enough than I'm sure 80 won't be enough for you either.  Especially if you consider all the stuff users are allowed to openly put on there, music, video, and a Linux OS.  I just think a system thats open like this would fill up quicker than say a completely locked down 120gb one like the 360 has.  But if anything maybe this move will drop the 60gb model down to $500, either way it will still be too expensive for most people.

Well I hope they make the 60GB model cheaper and the 80GB one the £425/$600 one. I don't see a point in them adding an extra 20GB, you might as well get your own 120GB 2.5" HDD.

I would suspect that they will drop the 60GB version if and when the 80GB is released... considering the dropped the 20GB version I don't think Sony is interested in having multiple versions out in the market.
