The Real "revolution" Of The Wii
« on: May 05, 2006, 10:26:00 AM »

I get the X-Arcade newsletter and todays had an article outlining some interesting theories about the Wii

http://www.xgaming.c...echnology.shtml

Some of the theories in-clude stereoscopic projection  ph34r.gif

At first I didn't think it was possible considering how projector technology works today but some of the companies Nitty has apparently partnered with would definitely make it possible to project from that little flap on the front.

How would this be economically feasible? A projector costs more than an Xbox360, and lightbulbs cost more than the Gamecube does. Plus they run hot. That would be entirely too much heat to run all of it in one unit.

Edit: on closer examination of the pics there are no vent holes that I can see, anywhere.

well the projection tech they're talking about is laser based, small enough to fit in a cell phone and doesn't generate heat, not to mention it's not on the market yet so we have no basis for comparison for how much it should cost (considering it's made for cell-phones it canlt be THAT expensive). Also who knows what kind of deal Nitty can get on it if they're partners.

Even if that flap just hides some USB ports there are some pretty cool techs being explained there.

That was in the zelda display feature last year at E3. It was fun to walk on and pretty cool. It wasnt like a showcase of it, just inside their "booth"
