I bought an R4DS and a 1GB micro SD card for $53 from this website.  Pretty good selection and they responded to me by email to say that they only sell made in japan versions of the Kingston micro SD.  Plus, unlike alot of similar sites, they're actually located here in the US so it doesn't take a year to get your order.

I got mine in 2 days.

I hope I'm not bumping an unnecessary topic but newegg's 1 GB's are now $9.99 with $5.50 shipping/tax.  Pretty sweet considering NewEgg is an extremely reliable retailer.  They've set a record of sending me enough parts that I bought to build an entire computer in literally 34 hours.

Do these play Portrait of Ruin flawlessly?  If so I'm in for one, I'll take a shot at it.  Where have the best luck been with? newegg or meritline?

I am using a 2GB Sandisk MicroSD and I have not had any problems running any of the backups I have, I have also never noticed any slowdown on any games.

Hope this is of help to anyone.

Hey fellas,

I'm probably going to be springing for an R4.. so I'm just trying to figure out what MicroSD card to get.

I'm looking at this Kingston 2gb one- link

I haven't exactly read completely through this thread, but does anyone know if this will be the Japan make? Or if there's a bigger probability of it being the Japan make?

And would you say it's worth it.. getting the 2gb? Would it be better to get 2 1gbs? Hell, is 1gb sufficient?

IDK if I want to drop $25 on a 2gb MicroSD card..

Thanks.

P.S. Somewhat off-topic.. Can anyone recommend a good site to get an R4 for less than $45. Feel free to PM me or IM me so that this thread doesn't go off-topic.

A 1GB MicroSD will hold about twice as much as my 4Gb DS-X (512MB). My DS-X holds plentyof Apps (~10-12), music (~20), etc. with space left over.

1GB should be good enough for you. But, Nintendo upped the limit for the allowable size of games. So, in the future, you could see space constraints be a problem. But, by that time, there will be bigger, cheaper, and faster chips available.
