Obama And Socialism...
« on: October 30, 2008, 08:36:00 PM »

I am not sure if there is any bigger example of "socialism" than bailing out wall street. Now the government owns/ partially owns a considerable amount of investments/property/stake in.../etc.

I don't get you folks sometimes... please get off it.

I vote soon enough and Obama will NOT get my vote but come on...

Thinking about it physically got me ill. (BP well over 164/110) I had to back off of the politics because it was literally making me sick.

Well if Obama's "Socialism" makes you ill, how does McCain's make you feel?

He may be making different comments now, but that is purely a political move and not how he has historically spoken and voted.

The US has had socialistesque policies for years, people just throw around the term like it's foreign and evil like communism once was.

What the hell are you talking about? Raising taxes isn't socialism...Are you saying because he had said that everyone's tax should be raised? I really don't follow....
Edit:Here is a condensed version of video below:

Another video. McCain used to be for taxing rich people more than middle class Americans. Strengthen Middle Class America. That is Obama's stance now, and all of a sudden it is blatant Socialism. I don't believe the hype. I don't think Obama is a Socialist anymore than McCain 2000 was.

again....you are not understanding....Obama wants to tax the rich for the sole purpose of giving it to the poor. that is what ties him to socialism....
No he doesn't. He wants to tax the rich to get money to make up for the huge debt we are in. He doesn't want to tax the middle class and poor cause they cannot afford it, because of the shape of the economy. He will continue with the EIC because when money is moving through the economy it stimulates the economy. That is a bi-partisan idea. Republicans and Democrats back and utilize that plan. It is not new, and it is not Obama's idea.

McCain wanting to tax the rich instead of the middle class is nowhere near socialism. If he wanted to take rich money to give it to the middle class then yeah...
It's spreading it around...that's socialistic. Not the actual taxing.
Just because that girl said socialism doesn't make it so.
I don't disagree. But, McCain would not stop EIC. So, that puts him in the same boat.

arguable point there. i think his new spending will be greater than his raised taxes. in the end i think our taxes will go up as our deficit increases. even cbs put out an article saying that "if obama saves every penny from iraq, and has his tax increase, and cuts all the pork he promised, that still won't pay for his new programs"

again, youre confused... 'taxing the rich and giving to the poor' != socialism... again, i ask yo to look it up...

that will never happen... the US will never be out of debt unless they basically pretend it never existed... have you ever thought about how there is now a money supply of 100's of trillions of dollars (theoretically) compared to decades ago when it was in the billions? how is that 'new money' made? a massive fucking debt cycle... the US will NEVER be out of debt...

Maybe you are confused. Maybe you don't see it as an attempt to eliminate the lower class. If you think it's not socialism, then give me a better word. It's not making everyone equal, sure. But if you've got a better word then let's have it.

@throwingks
Here is a list of Obama’s 7 proposed tax credits:

“- A $500 tax credit ($1,000 a couple) to “make work pay” that phases out at income of $75,000 for individuals and $150,000 per couple.

    - A $4,000 tax credit for college tuition.

    - A 10% mortgage interest tax credit (on top of the existing mortgage interest deduction and other housing subsidies).

    - A “savings” tax credit of 50% up to $1,000.

    - An expansion of the earned-income tax credit that would allow single workers to receive as much as $555 a year, up from $175 now, and give these workers up to $1,110 if they are paying child support.

    - A child care credit of 50% up to $6,000 of expenses a year.

    - A “clean car” tax credit of up to $7,000 on the purchase of certain vehicles.”

Now...These are are new plans and new numbers. If taxes are raised on just the rich, then guess where the money to pay for all of this is coming from? If he also wants to use that money for debt then that's worse...Because the amount he wants to raise taxes won't even pay for all of those plans...The math doesn't work.
