Can Politicians Serve The People While
« on: February 19, 2007, 09:41:00 AM »

As the title suggests, should politicians be slaves to the people or should they be allowed to have a career outside of politics?

I doubt it.  Unfortunately, there was a practice called Earmarking that has started since the Republicans taken over Congress in 1994.  Not saying that Democrats abuse this power too.  You can read more about it here.

Earmarking has gotten so bad that it has gotten some politicans indicted for abuse like Duke Cunningham of California.

Even worse, there are politicans who often help writes his/her own bill and then quits as congressman and then benefitting from it like here:

Sad but true.  Some politicans serve their interest instead of their people's interests.
