Looking For New Earbuds
« on: August 11, 2007, 12:35:00 PM »

I am going to buy a new pair of earbuds. I am deciding between the Skullcandy Smokin' Buds and the Sennheiser MX55V. Which of these is better? I am replacing a pair of Sennheiser MX500s. They were awesome and had really good bass but the sound blew out in one of them. One of my friends had MX55Vs and they are really good. one of my other friends said Skullcandy earbuds were really good. I found the skullcandy buds for $17 on Amazon and the MX55Vs for $23. Can anyone suggest a better pair of earbuds for under $30? I need good bass, but cost is also a factor.

thanx for the suggestion. Here are two links to a site with technical specs and reviews on the EP 630s and the MX55Vs. They both look pretty good.

The Ep630s got great reviews.
The MX55Vs got bad reviews - people said the sound and bass quality were bad but i don't know if I should believe them because I used to have sennheisers and i thought the sound was great especialy the bass.

I'd sort of like to stick with Sennheiser because I used to have a pair and they were good but if the Creatives are better...

Well Ive never owned sennheiser but all I can tell you is that I used to own a Creative Zen Micro and it was well known for lacking bass, and once I got these things that lack disappeared completely. I now use them with my zune, and they still sound great.

Creative adds a LOT of fidelity to their earphones and headphones, which many manufacturers do not. It makes it sound SO much clearer.

Good luck!

I've yet to hear a decent Creative product. I don't care for the Sennheiser sound and yet I'd still assume they are far superior. And Skull Candys suck. Period. Theyre all bloated, rattling, ugly bass. Absolutely horrible sound on their products.

JVC Marshmallows?

They sound great if you can deal with that type of phone.

I've heard those were good too ^^^

I guess it really comes down to personal preference. The creatives have copper wire inside that makes it so no oxygen gets in, which keeps the sound clear. I dont know if the JVC's have that.

Rylinkus, by saying you've yet to hear a descent creative product, does that mean you have heard some but didnt like it, or you havent ever heard any creative earbuds before?
