That's It...i'm About To Break My Toms With A Hammer...
« on: June 17, 2007, 04:26:00 PM »

I've been playing the drums for a while now. 8 years if my memory serves. Amazingly in all of this time, the one thing I've never been able to do is make the toms on my home set sound like anything other than crap. I've tuned them for hours, tried every type of head (I just bought Evans Hydraulics today and they sound absolutely abysmal), I don't even know what else to try.

The set is a modest Tama Rockstar with fusion size toms. Even with rings and hydraulic heads they have these disgusting overtones and they just sound empty. I can't get the rich full sound I'm craving out of them. I realize the set just might not be good enough, but there must be something I can do, because this is driving me insane. My band has decided to up the practicing and I can't afford to just survive my home set until we hit the studio anymore.

ANY advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

(Oh, and buying a whole new drumset is out of the question  tongue.gif )
