Well, I thoughtI'd start a thread with the best lyrical songs that we have heard.  The beat/artist doesn't really matter, just go for the words themselves.  Post the lyrics as well as artist.

I think I'll start with 2 songs that I love.

First, we have Rock Bottom by Eminem (this edges out 8 Mile  and Stan, in my mind).

Rap isn't exactly my taste, when I just read it its good, but when I listen to it I don't know, not my cup of tea.

Tool is awesome.

But Brand New's Jesse Lacey is a lyrical genius IMO.
Example:

Songs about sex, and how Jesse doesn't want to be like Elvis and Maradona, have it all and loose it.

Another amazing lyricist Nick Thomas of The Spill Canvas, he makes you feel like whatever he is feeling. He uses great metaphors and similies (I didn't know whether it was metaphor or similie so I put both).

Heres a good example, read the bolded parts especially.

Wow, Soupy, those are some great lyrics.  I'd never heard it in English before (though MANY times in German, though I don't speak it...), VERY good.

I'd have to disagree, good CD, but Deja Entendu is amazing, same with Your Favourite Weapon. This is a really good CD though, this can't be all of it too, 9 songs? Im sure itll be fine tuned an mastered perfectly on its released. Hey they start mastering a day before my birthday! (July13 is my birthday) Then I get to see them on the 22nd biggrin.gif
