Making A Foot Switch

well it would totally depend on your amp
you need to find out what the foot switch does- does it short two sontacts? or select between 2? you may be able to find this out from the manual or failing that, try to get your hands on the service manual for it.

keep in mind that it may be a better option to get the official one for your amp

you could just put a distortion circuit inside a stompbox and use a dpst switch to switch between straight-through and the distortion.  I'm not sure how to wire a footswitch to control your amp's onboard distortion short of opening up your amp and wiring a footpedal to the onboard switch.
