If you like those movies, then check out Requiem for a Dream by Hubert Selby Jr. And, watch the movie too. Requiem for a Dream is a book that the movie of the same name was based on, directed by Aronofsky.

You have to watch La Jetee. It is the precursor to 12 Monkeys. It explains a lot. After watching La Jetee, 12 Monkeys jumped to 1 of my top movies. Its a narration over still pictures, only about 30 minutes long.

It's French with English subs. Don't watch the English dubbed version. It is better hearing the French and reading the English. Kinda gets you into the movie better.

Holy Shit, its on Google Video!!!!11!1!  (English Version)

Can I post the link?
PM me if you cant find it.
