Aww man, those red eyes ruined it.. The whole black and white theme was working with it real good.. oh well, tis not my sig.

i agree that the eyes messed it up, the text is kind of hard to read.

use a soft brush with low opacity, start out big and go smaller. its basically making your own outer glow or a lens flare that dosent look completely cliche
