Any one here a radio op? I am in the process of getting my liscense but I dont know a single person who is a ham.

my dad is/was, and has like $3k worth of equipment sitting around that collects dust  laugh.gif My mom wont let him put his tower back up sleep.gif

Well I certainly *as of current* don't plan on investing that much in equipment.  I have a pretty old all tube radio that I picked up some time ago, I am itching to use it but I will take the proper channels and get a license first.  

Really, I would like to get an overall better understanding of radio frequencies in general, satellite communication, and brush up on some geography.    For me it's important to know how to operate one in case of a disaster situation whatever it may be.
