We have both Comcast and DSL service at my house... Comcast is 17.5 mbps down / 1600 kbps up (burst, wont sustain) and the DSL is 7.1 mbps down / 896 kbps up.

I guess it's a regional thing.

sicknasty413 and probably anybody that has Comcast, you can also get comcast to upgrade your line for $10 extra a month. I had a friend tell me about it and I had to ask 3 different people to get it, lol. Crapcast are idiots and none of them knew what I was talking about when I asked about "upgrading my line". Finally the 3rd guy knew and told me. My download went up by 25% and my upload speed doubled. Unfortunately they make you use THEIR modem for the upgraded line. I had just bought a brand new Motorola Surfboard about a month before and they said it wouldn't work. If your already renting one they will just swap it out.

If you play online alot you get alot less lag usually and if your hosting a game most of the time the other players won't lag much.

My desktop is hardwired to my router.
My router then goes to my Vonage router/modem/box/thing.
My Vonage thing then goes to my modem.
My modem then goes straight to the incoming "line" from outside.

Comcast is supposed to come by in the next 50min supposedly!

We're getting 2 cable boxes installed (guest room and my dad's room).. And maybe have one go to my computer!

We have DirecTv (my dad even has DVR in his room).. but we're only doing this to make our internet cheaper.

Hopefully they'll make my internet faster as well. I'm tired of this 4.5Mb shit!

Good old Comcast.

It's supposed to be 6 megabits down, 384 kilobits up.... IDK about the download but the upload seems ok.

I wonder if it'd be worth it to try and get them to upgrade the line.

I'm doing pretty good for being in the mountains. The only problem I've had with comcast is my On Demand rarely works. It was out for a while, called them, they fixed it then the next day its out again. Dirty whores.

Mine is pretty good considering here is a 4MB line and its in the UK, which tans the hell out of most the UK connections, even half the 8MB+ lines over here aren't up to the speeds this beast does.



Oh and BTW thats abit of a poor day for this, ive had upload at nearly 500K, and above 4MB down.

That's with a Wireless G 54MB/s card with 4/5 bars connectivity in my house. I got 9100 down yesterday, but upload is always around there.

EDIT: Oh yeah I forgot, I have Comcast also.
