Printing Onto Playing Card Surface

I want to print onto some cards I have (making a board game for a project for school).  When I print onto the cards the ink just bubbles up and doesnt dry or stick at all.  any ideas how I can make it work?   anything I can do to the surface of the cards?  would a laser printer do it?

also, any ideas how I can bleach out the front of the cards? I need them to be white.
