Projection....sad.gif

Maybe this is just me, but I would rather have a 42" plasma than that TV.  But you know, I haven't seen picture quality or anything, it may surprise me.

Plasmas suck tho
they burn out and die

i've been doing my research on them. If you wanna keep em long you can only use them like 4hours a day!

Mmmm...and i thought my sony was nice. Pioneer TV's are beautiful, and you got an AWESOME deal on it  ohmy.gif

Nobody deals in pioneers around here, so i had to go with sony...still nice.  wink.gif

I've been looking for a TV for a while now and Sony was at the top of my list.  They make great sets too... I was sooo close to getting a 57" Sony last weekend for around $2250 on sale.  All my tube TVs are Sony.

Nice setup. With regards to Sony's Rear projection, I don't like them at all. I would say
Sony STILL make's the BEST tube Tv's closely followed by Toshiba. I always thought
Pioneer made great rear projection's. I currently have a Runco 980 Ultra fp setup.
Good luck with your new toy!!

It is just you. Plasma can't even come close to that set EVEN in HD. Plasma's are more
of a conveinience/novelty imo. They can't produce black level for shit (no, dark grey don't
count.). They also look like shit on fast motion with blurring and pixelation. This is just
inherent of the technology. Not ready for prime time....yet. One day...maybe.

Wow,that TV is sick!!!

HDTV televisions are beautiful, especially the very large ones  .
I'm still using a projector which has a bigger screen of course, but not that quality  .

????? What kind of projector are YOU running? Trust me when I tell ya, a properly setup crt projector will SMOKE that set. My projector is running on a 52x92 inch screen. Depending on the calibration and scaler quality my setup is VIRTUALLY identical to film.
MUCH better then most cinema's. No exaggeration.
g

My uncle got a nice projector setup, but it cost him $120 every 3 months to replace the Lamp/bulb thing.
sony say thats normal, and he should be using it only for movies, not as a television, to get a normal 12 months bulb life.

I think I will opt for a HD TV if all projectors are like that.

That's a nice little unit. Have you done any internal calibration on it? Did you calibrate
grey scale?

Sorry mate,I don't know anything about modifying projectors sad.gif .
I bought the projector, and only used it like it was (no modifications made) .

Can you tell me a little more about internal calibration and calibrating the grey scale?
Thanks in advance! wink.gif

A few things. If you have NO expierience doing this sort of thing...maybe you shouldn't
mess with it. The problem is any place you buy a Tv (and even some projector's), the
setting are set SOOOO high which is INCORRECT!! A lot of iggnorant people are drawn
to the "bright and punchy" picture like bug's to a light. I can give you a few tips though.
First, go out and buy (yeah I know, buy) either Video Essential's or Avia calibration DVD'.
Then read/watch and then follow. These calibration tools are now available to the public
but 10 years ago were only available to industry and VERY expensive. (both discs can
be had for around $30 us each btw). The goal here is to bring color as close to 6500k
as possible. Not to mention proper white/contrast settings. If you want to take it a
step furthur, you can search for your projector's service menu. This is ONLY to be used
by an expierienced professional because you can alter your projector (sometime's for
the worse) permantly. Most times you can write down setting's number and change back though depending on projector. Go to www.avscience.com and go to their projector
forum.

Search for your unit (and/or anybody that has your unit) and see what you can do with it. I can almost gurantee with some carefull research, patience and adjustment you will
be a VERY happy projector owner.  BTW- This also applies to rear projectors so calibrate
that Pioneer!!! Good luck!!

No problem and yes...that's my thing. Just another hobby to consume the time. Thought about getting into it professionally but too lazy to go back to school. Oh well.
