They don't really even need this huge adaptor. They were smart and intigrated firewire. You could add an external HDD via firewire (I think the linux kit does this). Also, there are ways to use firewire for networking, but I haven't yet seen a firewire->ethernet adaptor. Likely that this could be done as well.

Who wants a whole bunch of shit hanging off the front of their ps2 though? I think it's butt as is.

umm i dunno what you guys talking about but they from day 1 have been talking about the hard drive and network adapters and its not in the front its in the back y do you guysd hate the ps2 so much i owne an xbox a ps2 and a gamecube and al the other old consoles the only 1 i regret buying is gamecube but im sure metroid prime will make up fdor that

Firewire? Um... I think those are just USB ports...

I just sold my ps2 to get my xbox.... I gotta say it was a great system and there are TONS of great titles for it. Oh well, sacrifices for the future. Did any of you hear about what some ms pr people did recently?? The sent out a bunch of boxes to gaming mag's and websites that said "PS2 Online Gaming Starter Kit" Inside it had a paddle ball, a small notepad and pencil, and two cups with string attached! Thats cold, but funny as HELL.
