Who wants to bet that, if the X-Ecuter modchip somehow falls short of being the best modchip in the world (the X-Ecuter team makes it sound REAL important to them to be 'the best'), that they'll start doing shady poop to their software? For example, they'll try boosting their modchip's popularity by making it a requirement that it's installed for software. The PSX emulator won't run if it doesn't detect the X-Ecuter, for example.
Sounds real immature, but so is calling every other modchip 'inferior' and releasing rumors that your chip has features that it doesn't just to boost pre-orders.
Just guessing. Flame if you will.... after all, that's pretty much what I'm doing.
