if they do have BC i'm sure MS is smart enough to find a way to counter "backups" to the hardrive and any other "modability"....  they wont make the same mistake twice would they????  XBOX is Bill's gift to modders (I talked my 16YO brother through modding his XBOX and showed him the tutorials... and he got it working his first try, mochip, new HDD and all)  thats how easy XBOX is to mod!

yeah, really, I'd mod my xbox if I had the time and money, I'm only 15! Its not that hard, heck, I built my own computer. (that was extremely easy too!)

Well, building a computer is the easiest puzzle in the world... 10 pieces?  And you get diagrams.  Haha, not knocking you, just pointing out that so many people fear building and maintaining their own PC because it's "too hard".

Nice to see Xbox2 has the power to emulate Xbox1.  Would be a cool selling point for a lil while.

I hate to be a killjoy but... being ABLE to run xbox code does NOT mean its able to emulate the gfx calls.

just thought I'd point that out

Maybe I'm a little slow but I don't see how what about the kernel suggests backward compatibility.

Our xbox games are for x86. The new processor is not. Although they do own VirtualPC... and RISC (the new one is RISC right???) emulating CISC is much easier than the other way around...

Yes, Ghost in the Shell 1 & 2 were awesome (haven't seen SAC).

And back to our regularly scheduled thread topic...  What would be required to make backward compatibility feasible?  A honkin' lot of RAM? GPU calls?  I don't know much about that jazz, but I'm willing to learn.  I think we have the CPU needed for it, and the ATI card could probably handle it all, but what else?
