Wireless Laptop To Xbox Problem

I have a laptop that has wireless internet and then i have a cross over cable that goes to the xbox. The xbox cant connect the the computer. I have Windows 2000 Server installed on this laptop. When I try to connect with live it says Ip not confirmed or DNs Problems. Can anyone give me a link or tell me what to do to fix this problem?
