Do not update to the latest dashboard as it changes the CB version to make it un-glitchable. This also happens with consoles serviced by microsoft. You can tell if it has been serviced if it says "Service Date" on the back instead of "Manufacture Date". But yeah, RGH is so much better than making backups.

I got MFR Date: blabla 2008 there and my dashboard is 9199..

Nice! However, I'm a bit in the dark about the pros and cons of JTAG and RGH. Which should I prefer if the surgeon is willing to do both? I know RGH has a longer bootup time, but that's all I know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You can only RGH with that unit anyway so no need to worry about pros and cons of both lol

Hmm, since the guy who would do it for €45 is about 200km away from me, I found another person who would do it about 1km away.. for €55 he will:

Install the RGH chip (which he himself will provide)
Extract CPU and DVD-drive keys
Set the console boot times (whatever that means)
Install and set the software and system files (freeboot 14719)

So, installing Freestyle Dash, Xexmenu, Dash Launch, setting up the FTP and all other software etc would be something I'd have to do myself. I suppose they're not too complicated.. Does using Dash Launch basically means replacing the original dashboard with the Freestyle Dash ?

Dashlaunch installs to your onboard nand and will boot into a homebrew dashboard of your choice, provided you have set up the .xex path in launch.ini

If you provide a hard drive with it, he should be able to install dashlaunch and freestyle dash so that it will boot right into it.

He will only do the things I said above..

Oh well you can run xex menu from a disc then go from there to install dashlaunch etc.

So, now all this exchanging, selling, buying etc has come to that, that I got a 2009 Elite with Jasper motherboard smile.gif It has dash 14699.. even got 7 months of LIVE time, but I'm still gonna RGH it. Anyone wanna buy the account (half the price of the LIVE time:D)?..

Anyway, when I wanna login to LIVE, it wants to update.. I'm afraid to do it because I don't wanna jeopardize my possibilities to RGH the console..

But I'm happy I finally got a decent box that will hopefully last.. can't wait to RGH it.
