Fried Disk Drive Components.
« on: September 18, 2013, 02:53:00 AM »

As I was repairing a Xbox disk drive, I accidentally plugged the white wire upside down which released a little bit of smoke and darkened the R707, R708 and R709 which I assume fried them.

I was wondering if anyone who knows any ways of fixing this and could provide instructions on how to do it.
If the board is beyond repair please let me know so I will just give up.

Picture of the board will be posted later on.

Thank you in advance, Eric.

Edit:

No, I wasn't trying to JTag although if that will offer a way of getting past this issue I am willing to go through with it.

I meant your DVD drives key.  i would say as long as you have the key, just buy a new DVD drive PCB like $5 and put the firmware and key on that.

You need to do some surface mount soldering.
Thinking you blew the 0 ohm resistors and probably one of the power reg transistors.

I have repaired several Lite ON's that this occurred on.

You need to roughly match the package size of those devices.

If you need my direct service help - let me know
