X Clamp Fix No Drilling?
« on: July 24, 2009, 10:49:00 PM »

I've seen x clamp fixes on ebay that say no drilling required. Does that mean they don't connect to the xbox chasis or do they just fit the chasis holes so you don't need to drill?

Is a kit that have to drill any better than one that I don't have to?

I never drill, I've fixed boxes that have been working great for over a year.

This is because the bolts that you will get is short enough... so it will not flex! This is a good thing! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

There's both I think...

If the head of the screw is shallow enough then it won't flex the board but then it might not be deep enough to prop the board up either.

The drill method has three washer (3m) for the motherboard to rest on so in theory it reduces the chances of the board flexing, otherwise it'll sag or get pressed up which will flex the board etc etc etc...

I've tried both and both seem to work (The non drill one, I'm not exactly sure if it was a perfect height or what).

I would recommend using the 12v fan mod (reduce it to 9v if its too loud) or something to help with cooling.
