If I'm not mistaken (and it's been a while since I've flashed a drive), you need to be treating it as a 02510c, not an 83850c. The 83850c methods won't work on the new firmware.

SO I made a probe with a wire and a pin.  Put the stripped end off the wire wrapped around a screw and tightly screwed into the computer chassis then i taped all around the board and left only the mpx01 hole exposed.

I hit phatkey under dvdkey32.. it prompted me to probe mpx01.

so after hitting okay i powered off the drive, put the pin on mpx01 i turned on the drive.  After about 8 or 9 seconds a message popped up saying Extraction complete! I thought i was all good! Nope!

After the pop saying to remove probe power drive off for 5 seconds and then power on and hit okay on the message

then phat key failed..
(extracted drive key failed verification) I have repeated this process like 5 times
any thoughts?

Yes you need to probe MPXO1
show you in the tutorial how to do this

Okay I must be missing a step here because I have just made a even better probe (using high end speaker wire- one end is screwed into the ground of a running but junker harddrive and the other end i have twisted into a fine tip and placed on the mpx01) but I am still getting the same results as with the last probe.

Here is my run down the liteon is powered on and the drive is closed.
I hit phatkey in dvdkey32
click okay to prob msg
after i click okay I turn the power off to the drive
i attach my probe
I power on drive
wait about 10 seconds
msg pops up extraction complete
i remove probe
i turn the drive off for 5 seconds
I power on drive
I hit okay
I fail...

I soldered on a toggle switch to the 3.3v of the connectivity kit to use that for the power on and off instead of power cycling the actual connectivity kit.

Worked first time.
