Reading Bank 0: ....x...x...xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxread Failed!
« on: March 19, 2013, 12:52:00 PM »

Hi,

I have a Samsung MS28 with Xtreme 5.4a firmware.

I only flashed this a couple of weeks ago.

I now want to update it to the latest LT firmware.

I get the drive into vendor mode, then click read...but get this:

..........

Reading Bank 0: ....x...x...xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxRead Failed!

Dumped in 85043mS

Samsung Dump file saved to SAM-OFW
Loading firmware from buffer
Parse Failed !

Loading MTK_Flash source file

....

What is wrong? Thank you.

ps. This Sata setup worked fine about 1 week ago, and I also used it the other day with a Lite-On drive.

Thank you, it worked eventually. It's weird, took me 10 minutes the other day, took me like an hour this time. :/

It's now back in the 360 and working good, but I am a bit concerned...I got this, what does 'y' mean....

Firmware is:  LT v2.01

Spoofing Target

DVD Key copied to target

ID strings already match

Getting Status from port 0x01F0

Parallel flash found with Status 0x70

Writing target buffer to flash

Sending Chip Erase request to port 0x01F0

Erasing:............

Writing Bank 3: ................

Flash Verification Test !

Write verified OK !

Sending Vendor Outro to port 0x01F0

I don't want to pay £50 for something I can do for free.

So guys, what does this mean:

Writing Bank 0: .......y.........

Writing Bank 1: ................

Writing Bank 2: ................

Writing Bank 3: ................

It's all working so...

I had that happen with just about every Sammy I ever flashed. I wouldn't worry about it.

Seems like samsung boards go bad.  It might be better to just get yourself a new PCB and put your firmware and key on that.  I have seen them eventually be unable to be written to and there was nothing I was able to do to fix it.

The dots actually count a total of 16 sectors in each bank.
The 'y' is an error reading or writing a sector, if erroneus, jf will attempt to re-read/write.
As long as you have 16 dots for each bank and write is verfied, you have nothing to worry about!
