Okay,
Modified my power cable wire for the 3.3v on/off switch
Using a VIA 6421a card(shows as via raid controller - 3249 in JF)
Using a DIYGadget CK3 setup with serial connection.(see pics below for hardware)
I went to read a key from my liteon dg-16d2s with 0251 firmware and keep coming up with "PhatKey failed!"
Yes, I am following the tutorial.
I get through the initial phase of powering off the drive without a problem.
Here are my steps:
1- Drive is connected, showing in drive properties
2- COM1 - ready
3- Hit phatkey
4- Click yes
5- power off 3.3v switch
6- probe mpx01
7- power on
8- Serial flash status x52
9- Remove probe
10- Pop-up Extract Complete screen
11- Probe is removed
12- Power off drive
13- Wait for 1,3,5 second (tried variations on timing)
14- Power on drive
15- Wait for 1,3,5 second (tried variations on timing)
16- Hit Okay
Extracted drive key failed verification
Is there something wrong with my steps?
"Using a VIA 6421a card(shows as via raid controller - 3249 in JF)"
use correct drivers phatkey extraction is STILL over sata,
use 530c drivers, then make sure card has status/code39 and showing as 6421
follow instructions in jungleflasher manual if you are unsure.
step2 com1 doesnt matter, phatkey is not using comport or serial connection.
step12 this is referring to the 3.3v switch NOT powering off the drive,
step13 dont wait anytime quick vcc off/on required, non cap pmts no delay needed
jungleflasher manual tells you this.
step15 same as step 13
step14 same as step 12,referring to the 3.3v switch again not complete drive.
In summary,
correct drivers need to be installed then deleted and using correct port on the via card.
make sure your switch is turning the 3.3v off to the drive, test with a meter
make sure you know when 3.3v is on to the drive and when its off, mark the switch
this is why ck3 probe3 has a led on,
make sure your probe is connected to ground/0v make a new one with a needle or adapt
your old one,the whole basis of the hack is to
ground out mpx01 which confuses to assist in phatkey extraction.
