1. Yes, but you'll have to shop around for solderless options.
2. There's very little real difference. Hard drive upgrades are a bit easier with a chip.
3. Not at all as long as you use a recent softmod. Krayzie 1.1.1 is the simplest and most stable.
4. Put the USB stick in the Xbox to format it. Use Xplorer360 beta 6 to copy the gamesave from your PC to your USB stick. Run Splinter Cell, select Basic Install - UnleashX dashboard. Make sure you take a backup of your eeprom.

I think you would be better off using Krazie's Ndure 1.1.1 instead of SID.
