Starting From Scratch

A friend of mine modded my xbox 2ish years ago. i think he used the splinter cell exploit to install avalaunch and xbmc on a 120gb hdd, since then the hdd has died. i've been looking all over for instructions on how to install xbmc on a blank drive, so i can start from scratch. i dont have access to any other xboxes, and when the xbox turns on it just blinks. any suggestions of where to look or instructions?

Wait a tick, Ldots has got a point here - Bam said the LED just blinked and that was it, but if the HDD was the only fault then the console should at least go through it's usual boot sequence then give an error screen.
