Is It Possible To Autoload A Playlist ?
« on: September 08, 2003, 01:42:00 PM »

would be great if it would be possible to autoplay at startup. First to have a background music while using xbmp and secondly you could use your box as a jukebox without having to launch TV, Beamer,  plasma , moviescreen or whatever.

so ?

All I can say is I second your idea... auto-play playlists randomly at launch (then user can override from there).  I didn't see anything about this in the 2.4 tutorial however but seems easy enough for them to implement ...
1. normal launch execution
2. execute a user configurable startup script.

I think its really important, first of all it wouldnt be so quiet at startup and you could launch the box and have music/movie/whatever  playing.

Same in Evox an autostart of a .xbe for example XBMP after timeout would be great.

thanks for an answer mate feeling much better now :D

I like this idea also.. right now i have muh xbmp xbox in my truck and it's kinda  pain to have to manually load a playlist each time.. If i could have it autoload and autoshuffle on load that would be pretty sweet also.. also some kind of autostart scripting would be pretty sweet too!

so you could script to have your playlist auto start on boot.. now that would be automated like a mofo! :)

I really think that scripting startup actions for XBMP would be VERY useful for me.. I just recently finished off an xbox install on my truck, and have entirely automated the startup process for the xbox (powering up on startup of my truck.. )

So the final piece left is to have XBMP autoload a playlist on startup so that i dont' have to manually intervene to load a playlist everytime i start my truck.. I guess just scripting the startup in general. if i could have it execute actions automatically on boot ( go load a playlist, and shuffle the playlist, and start a song...) or something to that effect.. anyone else have an iterest in this feature?

no it's not currently possible in XBMP, neither is in planned by the offical devs or on the to-do list. You can submit it as a Feature Suggestion/Request and hope a official or unofficial dev will code it

I took another look at this, and i guess it could even as easy as to just auto-load a file upon boot..   maybe have a config file, or in config.xml that you could define a file to autoload on boot?  Just an idea.. I included that idea in the Feature Req sectoin on soundforge.
