Hi all,

Posted this a few days ago, but think it may have been the wrong forum.

Took the ultimate plunge and dug out the "old dear" to try and create a nice media centre / emulator station for the bedroom.

Already had a softmod with stock hard drive and decided to upgrade HDD to stick coin ops on there.
Read up a few guides an did some research. Decided to use an old maxtor 160gb IDE HDD for the task and build using XboxHDM. The drive isn't on "the list" but thought it was outdated and maxtors seemed a decent bet.

Backed up EEPROM, and transferred over and built the drive using XboxHDM DVD. All going well!

However! I have 2 issues:

1. Can't get the HDD to lock.
Using option 4, hdlock allows me to run through locking procedure and even says the drive is locked with password XXXXXXXX.
lockhd says file not found. Any1 advice what / where this file is?
Unlockx says drive not lockable! And won't let me lock.

2. Can't get either of the "Linux" options to boot (1 or 3).

Only options 2 or 4 will boot, options 1 and 3 freeze during the boot. This happened during my original softmod years ago but it didnt prove to be an issue. Any suggestions?

I think I would have a better chance of locking through the Linux tools. Am I right?

My next step it to attempt an upgrade using chimps if I don't get any solutions here.
